While we hoped to be celebrating with you at an in-person ceremony, this year has presented a unique opportunity to hold commencement in a virtual environment. Although this means that your MMA graduation will not look like those of the past, we hope it will be just as memorable.<\/p>\n<p>Commencement marks the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. It is our hope that you are now taking some time to enjoy this moment. We intend to make it a special experience for you and your families.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, June 6 at 11 a.m. ET we will hold the Class of 2020 Virtual Commencement. Your classmates, alumni, and faculty will be taking part as guest speakers with special messages for you. We will also send a recording of the ceremony to all members of the Class of 2020.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\">\n<div class=\"panel-heading\">\n<h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a class=\"accordion-toggle collapsed\" href=\"#collapsedTwo\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordionInner\"><strong>How are Latin Honors determined?<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"collapsedTwo\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\">\n<div class=\"panel-body\">Latin Honors (Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, and Summa Cum Laude) are academic honors earned through achieving specific cumulative grade point averages (GPA) while pursuing the Bachelor of Science degree. For MMA commencement ceremonies, honors designations are based on a student\u2019s cumulative GPA at the end of the preceding Fall semester. However, when a student officially graduates, their transcript and diploma will indicate any honors earned based upon their final cumulative GPA.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\">\n<div class=\"panel-heading\">\n<h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a class=\"accordion-toggle collapsed\" href=\"#collapseeTwo\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordionInner\"><strong>When will I receive my actual diploma?<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"collapseeTwo\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\">\n<div class=\"panel-body\">Students earn their diploma upon completion of all academic requirements as well as all U.S. Coast Guard requirements if they are enrolled in a license-track degree program. When the MMA registrar has confirmed that a student\u2019s requirements are complete, the diploma production process begins. That process takes approximately 3 to 4 weeks. Once the diploma has been prepared, it is sent to the student at the address provided on the student\u2019s Graduation Intent Form.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\">\n<div class=\"panel-heading\">\n<h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a class=\"accordion-toggle collapsed\" href=\"#collapseiTwo\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordionInner\"><strong>When will I get my U.S. Coast Guard license?<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"collapseiTwo\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\">\n<div class=\"panel-body\">For students in an unlimited license program, a student earns their U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) license when all academic and USCG degree requirements have been completed and verified by the MMA registrar. The license is prepared by the National Maritime Center (NMC) and issued to the MMA Registrar\u2019s Office for review and release to the student. Pursuant to an agreement between MMA and the USCG\/NMC, we expect to receive licenses in early June for students who completed their degree requirements in May. These licenses will be sent by U.S. mail to students with their diploma. The NMC will continue to prepare licenses as requested by the MMA registrar for students who complete their academic and USCG degree requirements at a later date.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\">\n<div class=\"panel-heading\">\n<h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a class=\"accordion-toggle collapsed\" href=\"#collapsefTwo\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordionInner\"><strong>I did not receive my diploma cover in March. Can I still get one?<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"collapsefTwo\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\">\n<div class=\"panel-body\">Yes, we have records indicating which students have not yet received their diploma cover. Those graduates will receive their MMA diploma cover when their diploma is mailed to them by the Registrar\u2019s Office.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\">\n<div class=\"panel-heading\">\n<h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a class=\"accordion-toggle collapsed\" href=\"#collapsegTwo\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordionInner\"><strong>What is the date my degree is conferred?<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"collapsegTwo\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\">\n<div class=\"panel-body\">Your degree conferral date \u2013 or your graduation date \u2013 is the date when your final academic grade is submitted to the MMA registrar. Given the unique circumstances of this past academic year, some of our students will have May 8, 2020 as their graduation date while others will have later dates because they will complete their academic degree requirements at different times.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\">\n<div class=\"panel-heading\">\n<h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a class=\"accordion-toggle collapsed\" href=\"#collapsehTwo\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordionInner\"><strong>How can I get a graduation announcement?<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"collapsehTwo\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\">\n<div class=\"panel-body\">\n<p>The bookstore is working with Josten\u2019s on updated announcements.
