Dear Students,<\/p>\n

We received test results this morning that show we currently have six positive, active cases of COVID-19 in our community. All have been contacted and are in isolation, either at home or special housing on campus. One individual has symptoms while the others are asymptomatic. All are faring well.<\/p>\n

We are in the process of contacting all identified close contacts and will be completing that by the end of the day today. These individuals will be tested and will quarantine as well, either on or off campus. If you are identified as a close contact to an individual who has tested positive, you will be notified today. Interactions with others for more than 15 minutes, within six feet of distance, as well as physical interactions, are considered close contacts. Close contacts will quarantine for 14 days and monitor for symptoms. A negative test result when someone is identified as a close contact does not mean that they can forgo the quarantine.<\/p>\n

Health Services is prioritizing testing for close contacts today.<\/strong> If you are not<\/em> identified as a close contact but you are concerned about exposure and want to be tested, please contact one of the testing facilities available in our area<\/a> or contact your primary care physician.<\/p>\n

Please note:<\/strong> the athletics fitness center will be closed out of an abundance of caution today and over the weekend. Academic or other student activities that were scheduled on campus over the weekend\u2014including those scheduled for the waterfront or Bok Pool\u2014are suspended at this time.<\/p>\n

It is not a surprise to find ourselves managing COVID-19 cases on campus, and our protocols and testing are working to give us the data we need to take the necessary precautions in good time so that we minimize the spread of the virus. Now, more than ever, it is important to follow our 12 Ways to 12 Weeks<\/a> safety protocols and guidelines. We also recommend staying in Castine or at your home over the weekend.\u00a0Please limit your close contacts, wash your hands, wear a mask\u2014continue to do all you have been doing to keep yourselves and others safe.<\/p>\n
