Lawrence Daniel Green, 76, of Pompano Beach, Florida, and Bucksport, Maine, died August 10, 2024, at the Holy Cross Hospital, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Larry was born April 20, 1948, in Portland, Maine, the son of the late Fred B. and Jeanette E. (Remar) Green of Saco, Maine.<\/p>\n

Larry was a 1966 graduate of Thornton Academy, Saco, and a member for the 1970 graduating class of Maine Maritime Academy, Castine, with a BS degree in marine engineering, a third engineer unlimited steam and diesel license, and a commission in the U.S. Naval Reserves. He sailed for ten years and after meeting the required sea time and training requirements, he obtained his chief engineer license.<\/p>\n

In 1980 Larry and his wife went into the hospitality business, they purchased the Jed Prouty Motel in Bucksport. Later purchasing the Jed Prouty Tavern and Inn, which they renovated and operated as an inn and restaurant, until they turned it into the Jed Prouty Assisted Living facility. They purchased the building, now known as the Nicholson Building, and converted it into apartments and office spaces. Later they purchased the Baxter Park Inn, Millinocket, Maine.<\/p>\n

Larry was an avid golfer, who enjoyed competing with his golfing buddies at Kebo Valley Country Club, Bar Harbor and Penobscot Valley Country Club, Orono. He loved being able to play golf, walking on the beach and swimming in the ocean year-round, so he purchased a condo in Pompano Beach, Florida.<\/p>\n

Surviving in addition to his wife of 54 years, Donna; are his daughter, Anne Darling, her husband Timothy, and grandson, Gavin; one brother, Saul Green and his wife, Kathy, of Anna, Texas; an aunt, Miriam Millman; and several cousins and close family friend, Chanda Lotridge.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
