Alumni Association Nomination Form
In accordance with the Alumni Association’s bylaws, all four Officer positions (President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Clerk) and six (6) Director positions are open for election.
All MMA alumni are eligible to submit nominations. Nominations must be received no later than 11:59 PM (Eastern Daylight Savings Time) on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 to be valid. To nominate alumni, including yourself, to serve on the Alumni Association Board, submit a nomination via one of the following methods:
- Use the online form,
- email (email@example.com), or
- mail (MMA Alumni Relations, 1 Pleasant Street, Castine, ME 04420).
Email and mail nominations must include:
- Name of nominee
- Year of graduation
- Nominee email
- Position on the board (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Clerk, Director)
- Name of nominator
- Nominator year of graduation
- Nominator email.
The MMA Alumni Association is an independent alumni association that maintains close ties with Maine Maritime Academy. All graduates of MMA are members of the Association and are entitled to hold office. The Board of Directors consists of eighteen (18) voting members: sixteen (16) Directors must be graduates of the Maine Maritime Academy and the remaining two Directors are enrolled students of Maine Maritime Academy and are selected by the current Board of Directors. The Board of Directors includes four positions as Officers of the Board: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Registered Agent (Clerk). The immediate Past President is a non-voting member of the Board of Directors.
Elections are conducted by ballot every two years. Ballots will be mailed or emailed to members sixty (60) days prior to the Annual Meeting, held this year during Homecoming on October 3.
The Officers shall be elected at each election by the membership and shall serve until their successors are elected. The President and Vice President may not serve more than two (2) two-year consecutive terms in the same office. The Registered Agent shall be a resident of the State of Maine.
Six Directors are elected at each election and Directors shall hold office for a term of four years from the date of the Annual Meeting of the MMA Alumni Association until his/her successor have been elected and qualified.
