CASTINE, Maine\u2014The Maine Chapter of the Fulbright Association will host a morning of presentations on the Arctic, climate change, and the Fulbright Scholar Program at Maine Maritime Academy on Friday, July 10, 2015. The public is invited to attend the three presentations, which are offered free of charge.<\/p>\n
A breakfast and networking session will precede morning presentations from 7:30-8:30 a.m. Later in the day, a dinner and presentation will be given by Captain Richard (Rick) Miller who will speak on the subject of \u201cArctic Sailing on the Bowdoin: Memoirs of a Captain\u201d at The Manor Inn in Castine. All programs are open to the public. There is a cost for breakfast and dinner programs; please see details below.<\/p>\n

\nThe Fulbright Program was established in 1946 under legislation introduced by then-Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State\u2019s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Fulbright Program awards approximately 8,000 grants annually. Approximately 310,000 “Fulbrighters” have participated in the Program since its inception in 1946. The Fulbright Association has more than 60 chapters across the United States, all led and managed by members who reside locally. Chapters provide opportunities, through volunteer service, for continued involvement with the Fulbright program, with visiting Fulbrighters currently in the United States, and with fellow alumni.
