Peacock II for a renewed 5-year term as Chair. Two new appointees also joined the Board of Trustees: Mr. Miles Theeman and Captain Wendy Morrison (Class of 1985). All trustees are appointed by the governor and serve a 5-year term.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaine Maritime Academy is a unique institution,\u201d said President William J. Brennan. \u201cOur success depends upon the guidance of unique individuals who bring a specialized understanding of and interest in the mission of the college.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Captain Robert J. Peacock, current Chair of the Maine Maritime Academy Board of Trustees, is a 1971 graduate of the Academy, and part of a three-generation family of alumni. Captain Peacock has made significant contributions to the state, to the college and, as a Naval Reserve Officer, to the country. He is currently a harbor and docking pilot for Eastport, Maine and the operations manager for TRUFRESH<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>, which owns a seafood plant in Maine, imports frozen seafood, and acts as consultant to plants processing seafood throughout the world. \u201cBeing on the MMA Board of Trustees is both the greatest honor and best job I have ever had,\u201d said Peacock. \u201cTo be asked by the Governor to serve another five years allows me to pay back to the citizens of Maine for their support of MMA.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The two new nominees to the Maine Maritime Academy Board include Captain Wendy Morrison and Mr. Miles Theeman. Captain Wendy L. Morrison graduated from Maine Maritime Academy and sailed commercially in the U.S. Merchant Marine, obtaining her US Coast Guard Master\u2019s License, Unlimited, before coming ashore. She holds a Master\u2019s Degree in Science and Maritime Management from the Loeb-Sullivan School of International Business and Logistics. Wendy sailed for Marine Transport Lines, Inc., aboard chemical tankers and MARAD-chartered vessels, participating in \u201cDesert Storm\u201d and NATO exercises in Europe. Shore-based, she worked as a marine superintendent with Shell Oil Company, providing marine support for Shell terminals on the U.S. East Coast and Florida, and for the Domestic Shipping Group, U.S.A.\u00a0 Currently, Wendy serves as a ship pilot for the Ports of Galveston and Texas City, Texas, holding executive office positions within the Galveston, Texas City Pilot group. Wendy grew up in Perry, Maine, and prides herself as a true \u201cDowneaster.\u201d Currently, she resides in Dickinson, Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Miles Unobsky Theeman\u2019s distinguished career in healthcare and community service ideally position him to provide Maine Maritime Academy with the advice and guidance the institution needs to address ever-pressing complexities. Theeman holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Florida. Over the course of his 39-year career at Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, he has held a number of progressive leadership positions including President and CEO of Affiliated Healthcare Systems, its for-profit subsidiary. He is currently VP-Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for the system. Theeman has served on various community boards including the United Way, YMCA, and the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce. He was also co-chair of the \u201cFriends of the Arena\u201d group which drove the grassroots effort and facilitated the community approval for the Cross Insurance Center.<\/p>\n<p>Maine Maritime Academy is a co-educational, public college on the coast of Maine offering 18 degree programs in engineering, management, science, and transportation. The college serves approximately 950 undergraduate and graduate students in career-oriented programs of study. Maine Maritime Academy was ranked the #1 Best Public College on <a href=\"http:\/\/time.com\/money\/collection\/moneys-best-colleges\/\">Money magazine\u2019s Best Colleges list<\/a> released in August, 2014. The college\u2019s persistence, retention and graduation rates are well above national averages, and the job placement rate is in excess of 90 percent within 90 days of graduation.
