Undergraduate Students – Section 608 Certification Exam

Enrollment closes on Friday, October 30, 2020 for the November exams.

The exam will be taken in the 1954 Room in the Alfond Student Center. Professor Skaves will distribute the Preparatory Manual prior to the exam date so you can become familiar with the material. Please bring the (1) Manual along with (2) your laptop and a (3) calculator to the exam. The exam typically takes two hours.

The Clean Air Act requires persons who work with or purchase regulated refrigerants for stationary equipment to become certified through a closed book exam.

The certification types are defined as follows:

Type‐I: Required for servicing small appliances
Type‐II: Required for servicing or disposing of high‐pressure appliances, except small appliances and MVACs
Type‐III: Required for servicing or disposing of low‐pressure appliances
Universal: Earned when a candidate successfully passes all four sections of the exam.

Candidates must pass the Core section of the exam along with one or more of the Types to earn the certification.
