Welcome to Modo / Maine Maritime Academy ideathon 2019! Spend a weekend full of fun and innovation taking your ideas and building them into an app, no coding skills necessary. Work alongside your peers to create solutions to challenges that arise on your campus. This is your chance to make a change…and maybe even win some prizes.

Student Life Awards Banquet

2019 marks the 18th Annual Student Life Awards Banquet.  Nominations for this year’s banquet will be accepted through Monday, March 11, 2019 at Noon HERE.

The first week of April each year Maine Maritime Academy holds a Student Life Awards Banquet to recognize those students that participate in campus and local community life beyond academics.  Award recipients make significant contributions to the greater MMA community their participation in various co-curricular organizations and activities, service projects, athletics, and employment.

There are 10 Student Life Award Categories that recognize a variety of student leaders of the MMA student body, one category that recognizes an organization, event or activity and one student nominated award that recognizes a faculty or staff member.  The Student Life Awards Committee will review all nominations and select the top five nominees in each award category. These top nominees will be invited to, and recognized, during the ceremony. One overall awardee from each category will be announced as the award winner at the banquet.

Class of 2020 Ring Dance @ Alfond Student Center

Purchase your tickets to Maine Maritime Academy’s Class of 2019 annual Ring Dance! Ticket on sale online or in the Dining Hall, Alfond Student Center, Monday – Friday ~ 10 am – 2 pm.

Ring Dance will be held on April 6th, 2019 at 7 pm in the Main Dining Hall. Ticket prices are $25 for one ticket or $40 for a couple. During the ceremony, there will be a portion where individuals and couples are called up to dip their class rings or special object into the blessed water of the Seven Seas. You are able to dip a ring, necklace, bracelet, keychain, or similar items that have importance to you! This portion of the night is optional to all who attend.

Presentation on the US Brig Niagara & Schooner Lettie G. Howard @ Room 209, Dismukes Hall

Captain William Sabatini will give a presentation on the US Brig Niagara and the Schooner Lettie G. Howard, especially about a remarkable co-op opportunity aboard the Lettie for this summer. The Lettie will stop in Castine on her way north around Graduation time and take up to 12 MMA students on as trainees for the rest of the voyage to Erie, Pennsylvania.

No prior sailing or vessel experience necessary.

IndEx @ Maine Maritime Academy

The Independent Experience (IndEx) is the kick-off to the new year for all incoming Independent students!

You will complete your New Student Orientation requirements and get a chance to meet all of the other new Independent students. All IndEx sessions and activities are required for first year Independent students, regardless of residential status.

Residential students: You are required to report and move into your on-campus housing assignments between 10AM and 12:00PM. You can check-in and pick-up your key at the main entrance to Curtis Hall.

Commuter or Off-campus students: You are required to report to the main entrance of Curtis Hall by 12:00PM.

Each fall, first-year students gather at the stern of TS State of Maine for an official “jump” into their life as a Mariner. Join us as we watch President Brennan and the #ClassOf2023 take the plunge!
