MEN'S BASKETBALL
Maine Maritime men's basketball team had several nail-biters against
strong North Atlantic Conference teams, including a win over Husson, the
eventual North Atlantic Conference champions.
Freshmen Nick Holt and Evan Poirier both received NAC Rookie of the
Week honors during the season, and senior Ben Russell earned College
Sports Information Directors of America/Capital One Academic Division
III All-District I first team. He averaged 9.7 points per game with a total
of 14 games played this season.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Maine Maritime's women's basketball team reached the North Atlantic
Conference quarterfinals and finished the season at 14-11 overall. The
Mariners won 5 of their last 6 regular season games to earn the No. 4 seed
in the playoffs.
Senior Leah Jackson earned Second Team All-Conference honors, racking
up an impressive 8.1 points per game and 11 rebounds in 26 games. She
was first in the conference for rebounds and 25th for points.
Freshman Mary Badeen received multiple awards, including Maine
Women's Basketball Coaches Association Second Team and All-Rookie
team honors. She was also awarded the title of Co-Rookie of the Year.
Earlier in the season, Badeen was recognized as MWBCA Rookie of the
Week four times, and NAC Rookie of the Week twice. She boasted 49
steals, 6.1 rebounds per game, and a scoring average of 13.4 points per
game, making her the leading scorer for the Mariners.
