MMA Adds Several New Staff
In the past year, Maine Maritime Academy has added several new people to its staff.
Here are some brief biographies to introduce our new colleagues.
Jennifer DeJoy
Director of College Relations
Jennifer DeJoy comes to MMA after 9 years at Pica Design and Marketing in Belfast, ME where she managed client
communications, public relations, and marketing strategy and implementation. Her many experiences prior to joining
Pica informed her decision to pursue a public relations career. She spent a year near Poitiers, France, doing PR for a
study abroad program; worked in
Seattle, WA in PR and marketing;
and also for The Appalachian
Mountain Club, in communications.
Her desire to get back to PR in an
educational setting drew her to
MMA where she will be responsible
for the internal and external
communications for the college. Her
initial approach is to examine what
MMA already has implemented,
and to facilitate progress on projects
that have received input and review.
She is also focusing on consistency
in communications and promoting
student, faculty and institutional
achievements. She warmly extends
an open invitation to all alumni,
Castine community members,
faculty, staff, students, and others
to contact her office anytime at 207-
326-2256 or jennifer.dejoy@mma

Timothy Koster
Associate of Public Affairs
Timothy Koster received his BA in English at Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire, before attending the US
Army Defense Information School where he studied communications and broadcasting. He is in the Army Reserves
and served in Iraq and South Korea. His fiancée, Heather Linnell (Athletics Department Trainer), told him about
the job opening in Public Affairs and he was hired in the summer of 2012. Some of his tasks involve reinstituting
the "Hometown News" releases to local new outlets about MMA students; examining, updating and improving the
webpage design; and restructuring all the information on the website to make it simpler and more user friendly. Koster
has proven to be an excellent photographer and is being called upon frequently to take photos at official MMA events
(look for more of his photos in future issues of the Mariner). He can be reached at 326- 9133 or timothy.koster@mma.
