Amphibious
Assault
SHIP
The crew of USS San Antonio
warmly received a group from Maine Maritime
Academy on August 1, 2012.
A special tour
of the amphibious assault ship was organized
by the ship's Executive Officer, Commander
Greg Baker, a 1995 graduate of MMA.
The ship was in the area to take part in the
Rockland Lobster Festival in Rockland, Maine.
The extensive tour included a visit to the ship's
topnotch medical facility, helicopter flight deck
and bridge. Additionally, the tour provided
stops throughout cargo areas allowing hands
on inspection of cutting edge military vehicles,
armament, and an LCAC transportation
hovercraft.
