IMO Current Awareness Bulletin

The database contains details of over 158,000 ships which includes newbuildings, total losses and scrapped ships. In addition to maintaining the Lloyd’s Register of Ships database, Lloyd’s Register – Fairplay also maintains the largest database of maritime companies – a total of over 171,000 – a database with details of over 8,800 ports and terminals, information on the world order book (merchant ships of 100 GT and above on order and under construction in the world’s shipyards), casualty data, fixtures, vessel detentions, photographs and an electronic news archive going back over eight years.

Marine Accident Reports
The NTSB issues an accident report following an investigation. These reports are available online for reports issued since 1996, with older reports coming online soon. The reports listing is can be sorted by event date, report date, city, and state. Click on any of those headings to sort the data.

MEPS
covers all aspects of marine ecology, fundamental and applied. Topics covered include microbiology, botany, zoology, ecosystem research, biological oceanography, ecological aspects of fisheries and aquaculture, pollution, environmental protection, conservation, and resource management. Inter-Research Science Center makes the archives of its journals available as a service to the scientific community. All articles published 5 years ago or more may be accessed freely; any articles published in the past 5 years must be requested via interlibrary loan.

Merchant Mariners Muster
A database of information on mariners contained in the original documents at Maine Maritime Museum; volunteers and staff continue to add names and voyages. Most people in the database were sailors aboard merchant vessels; some were employed aboard fishing vessels. There are a few naval seamen in the database, but this is not really a place to search for the records of naval personnel.

National Technical Reports Library
The National Technical Information Service acquires, indexes, abstracts, and archives the largest collection of U.S. government-sponsored technical reports in existence. Search more than 2 million titles and 700,000 full-text documents.
