Robert O. Donnell, Jr. ’68

YORK, Maine – Robert O. Donnell, Jr., of York, Maine, died Thursday, November 10, 2016, at York Hospital. He was born in York on November 17, 1943, of parents Robert O. Donnell, Sr., and Winnifred MacIntire Donnell. He graduated from York High School and Maine Maritime Academy.

Rod was a valued member of his community, owning several businesses, as well as serving on the York Board of Selectmen, York Shellfish Commission, and the York Hospital Board of Trustees. He was an active outdoorsman, enjoying hunting at the camp he built at 5th Machias Lake in Washington County, gardening, and viewing wildlife, birds, and his beloved ocean. He liked nothing better than helping out anyone who needed assistance in any circumstance.

Rod was pre-deceased by his parents and infant son, Adam. He is survived by his sister Regina Donnell and her husband Steven Gray of York, brother Timothy Donnell and his wife Rebecca of North Berwick, and three children, Allison Donnell of Marshfield, Mass., Zachary Donnell and his wife Stacey of Wells, and Jody Donnell; and his grandchildren Kate, Brian, and Norah. Rod will be missed by his special friend Margaret Montembault.

SERVICES: Friends and family are cordially invited to a gathering to share memories at Foster’s Clambake in York on Sunday, November 20, 2016, from 1-3 p.m.
