Michael J. Gallagher ’92

PALM CITY, Fla. – With deep sadness we mourn the sudden passing of Michael J. Gallagher on March 27 at the age of 46 with his wife Sheila at his side. He was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on May 26, 1970, the son of Robert C. Gallagher and Patricia A. Gallagher. He was the youngest of seven children.

Michael was a 1992 graduate of Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine. After graduation Michael traveled the world as a Merchant Marine. He was last employed as an engineer with South Florida Water Management District.

Michael loved fishing, golfing, cooking and Boston sports teams especially the New England Patriots. He had a special fondness for York Beach, where he spent many summers and had many wonderful friends and memories.

He was predeceased by his parents and is survived and will be forever remembered by his wife, Sheila Agustin Gallagher of Palm City, Florida, his siblings Deborah Frost and her husband Donald, Patricia J. Gallagher and her husband Nathan Wilson, Robert T. Gallagher and his wife Deborah, Jean Gallagher, Stephen Gallagher and Susan Gallagher. Michael had many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Michael also leaves behind his beloved dog, Brady, who brought him much joy.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on April 7 at the Cathedral Parish of St. Ignatius Loyola, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. A celebration of Michael’s life will also be held in York sometime in May.
