A multi-purpose, “clean burn” firefighting training facility is planned for Bucksport.

MMA Purchasing Property for CPMD in Bucksport

In recent news related to the Center for Professional Mariner Development (CPMD), President Brennan met with the Bucksport City Council in December to discuss plans to locate the college’s new center at the former Verso Paper mill site.

Phase one of the plan includes the purchase of the Verso training building and construction of a multi-purpose firefighting training facility built to meet the needs of our undergraduate students, professional mariners, and workforce development.

President Brennan announced in November that a purchase and sale agreement was signed with American Iron and Metal (AIM), owners of the former Verso paper mill in Bucksport, to acquire a six-acre parcel of land for the state-of-the-art training facility. The agreement is expected to be finalized following a 60-day due-diligence period, after which a closing date will be determined.
