STATEMENT OF THE JOB

 

Employee reports to the Chief Engineer or his designated subordinate. Employee is assigned duties, and jobs are scheduled, through consultation with the vessel's Chief Engineer, and or First Engineer. Employee must possess "Master Plumbers" license. Employee must possess USCG Merchant Mariners document. Experience in the fields of rigging, welding, and/or other engineering disciplines will be weighed accordingly.

 

DUTIES OF THE JOB

 

1.   Responsible for using and maintaining engineering department stores, spares and equipage.

2.   Responsible for identifying and reporting needed repairs, accomplishing the repairs and testing of completed repairs, as directed.

3.   Responsible for the operation and, as directed, the maintenance of the vessels plumbing systems.

4.   Assists with the operation and preventative maintenance of all vessel machinery on an as needed basis.

5.   Responsible for the maintenance, of the vessel’s plumbing equipment, stowage, inventories and state of readiness in general.

6.   Responsible for maintenance lab assistance as directed by the Engineering Officers.

7.   Responsible for compliance with academy rules, regulations and safety policy as they relate to the position as Plumber Utility.

8.   Acts as a working example to, and with, students and or other Academy personnel as assigned.

9.   Assists the Engineering Staff in training and execution of all emergency drills and procedures.

10.Is assigned to the vessel and as such participates in all deployments.

11.As a uniformed officer, will comply with the regimental uniformed regulations as modified by the Commandant for Staff Officers.

12.Is expected to enforce regimental regulations.

13. May supervise students and/or regular Academy employees.
