STATEMENT OF THE JOB

 

Employee performs semi-skilled work in the preparation of and cooks a variety of foodstuffs for a dining hall, cafeteria and ship’s mess operation.  Work involves preparing and cooking a wide variety of foodstuffs, some of which may require special techniques and care to reduce costs and assure proper preparation.

 

 

DUTIES OF THE JOB

 

1.      Prepares and cooks a variety of foodstuffs.

2.      Assists in preparing entrees and special menus.

3.      Operates mixers, steamers, toasters, choppers, fryers, ovens, stoves and other equipment.

4.      Participates in kitchen cleaning work, including washing and cleaning equipment.

5.      Secures food supplies from storerooms and/or refrigerators.

6.      Assigns tasks to a helper.

7.      Packages and freezes samples of foods served to comply with health regulations.

8.      May assist in storeroom duties such as receiving orders, rotating stock and inventory duties.
