This 22 hour 2.5 day (instructional hours plus exams) program provides the information necessary for those who may be designated to perform the duties and responsibilities of a Company Security Officer or a (Ship) Vessel Security Officer. Content includes the duties and responsibilities with respect to the security of the ship, for ensuring the development of a ship security assessment, for developing, implementing, maintaining and updating a Ship Security Plan and for coordinating with Vessel, Company and (Port) Facility Security Officers. Those who successfully complete this course should be able to undertake the duties and responsibilities of either a Vessel or Company Security Officer and will receive the relevant DNV/MARAD/USCG approved course certificates for both positions as defined in Sections A/11.2 and A/12.2 of the ISPS Code and 33 CFR part 101-104 and Table A-VI/5 of the STCW code as amended (2011 edition.)
