CASTINE, Maine – January 25, 2013 - Maine Maritime Academy’s department of Residential Life and Activities and Bands Committee is hosting events – including family-friendly current movies – which are free and open to the public.
Members of the community are invited to attend the following events:
Tuesday, January 29 – Comedian John Roy, 8 p.m. in the Delano Auditorium
Monday, February 4 – Screening of the movie “Wreck-It Ralph” at 8 p.m. in The Waypoint
Friday, February 8 – Men’s and Women’s Basketball vs. New England College starting at 5:30 p.m.
Saturday, February 9 – Men’s and Women’s Basketball vs. Colby-Sawyer starting at 3:00 p.m.
Monday, February 11 – Screening of the movie “Skyfall” at 8 p.m. in The Waypoint
Tuesday, February 12 - Men’s and Women’s Basketball vs. Thomas College starting at 5:30 p.m.
Monday, February 18 – Screening of the movie “The Help” at 8 p.m. in The Waypoint
Friday, February 22 – Screening of the movie “Lincoln” at 8 p.m. in The Waypoint
Tuesday, January 29 – Comedian John Roy, 8 p.m. – Delano Auditorium: Comedian John Roy is a clean, family-friendly comedian who has appeared on The Tonight Show, The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Conan, and was a semi-finalist on Comedy Central’s Last Comic Standing.
Monday, February 4 – “Wreck-it Ralph,” 8 p.m. – The Waypoint (Bottom floor of the Harold Alfond Student Center): Wreck-It Ralph is an animated Disney movie featuring the voice talent of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, and Jane Lynch. It follows the story of Ralph (Reilly), a video game villain who is tired of being the bad guy and sets out on a quest to be the hero. It is rated PG.
Monday, February 11 – “Skyfall,” 8 p.m. – The Waypoint: Skyfall is the latest in the James Bond series starring Daniel Craig and Judi Dench. The relationship between Bond (Craig) and M (Dench) is put to the test as M’s secretive past comes back to haunt her in this action flick. It is rated PG-13.
Monday, February 18 – “The Help,” 8 p.m. – The Waypoint: The Help stars Emma Stone as Skeeter Phelan, an aspiring writer during the civil rights movement in the 1960’s who decides to write a book about the point-of-view an African-American maid has of her white family employers. It is rated PG-13 and also stars Viola Davis and Bryce Dallas Howard.
Friday, February 22 – “Lincoln,” 8 p.m. – The Waypoint: Lincoln stars Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln and offers an inside look at the personal and political challenges the sixteenth president had to overcome to win the Civil War and to emancipate slavery. It is rated PG-13 and also stars Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
