CASTINE, Maine - Maine Maritime Academy will host an informational workshop for prospective students and their parents on gaining admission to Federal service academies, public maritime academies, or private military colleges. The workshop, offered free of charge and open to the public, will be presented at the Hilton Garden Inn, located at 250 Haskell Road in Bangor, Maine, on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Registration will take place from 5:30-6 p.m., and the information program will take place from 6-8:30 p.m.
CASTINE, Maine — The Board of Trustees of Maine Maritime Academy will hold a regular quarterly meeting on Friday, May 4, 2012, at 4 p.m., in the Holmes Alumni Heritage Room, located on the lower level of the Harold Alfond Student Center on the college campus in Castine, Maine. Standing Committees of the Board of Trustees will also meet throughout the day at various times.
CASTINE, Maine - Maine Maritime Academy students, officers, and crew will visit southern U.S. and tropical ports as part of the college’s annual two-month training cruise to foreign and domestic ports-of-call. This year’s training cruise itinerary includes Galveston, Texas, May 18-21; Wilemstad, Curaçao, June 1-4; St. Georges, Bermuda, June 11-14; and Charleston, S.C., June 22-25. The ship will host a family day sail on the return leg from Searsport to Castine. The training ship will depart Castine on Tuesday, May 8, with sailing operations beginning at 7:15 a.m., and departure at approximately 8 a.m.
CASTINE, Maine – The Student Business Logistics Association (SBLA) of the Maine Maritime Academy (MMA) Loeb-Sullivan School of International Business and Logistics will host a logistics and transportation seminar this spring. Set for Thursday, April 12, 2012, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 250 Haskell Road, Bangor, “Maine’s Gateways to International Trade” will focus on Maine as a rising gateway for international trade.
The seminar is open to the public by advance registration.
CASTINE, Maine – The Maine Maritime Academy (MMA) International Student Ambassadors (ISA) will host a celebration of the academic expertise of two visiting professors at the college as they near the completion of their academic year appointment. Capt. Oguz Atik and Dr. Alexander Kuznetsov, will collaborate to present “A View of Life, Commerce, and More From St. Petersburg and Izmir” on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at 4 p.m. in Delano Auditorium. The presentation, expected to last approximately one hour, will conclude with a question and answer period.
The presentation is open to the public.
CASTINE, Maine –Maine Maritime Academy (MMA) President, Dr. William J. Brennan, has announced that The Honorable David T. Matsuda, Maritime Administrator, will address the graduating class at the college’s 69th Commencement on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 11 a.m., in Alexander Fieldhouse. Matsuda will receive an honorary doctorate from the college.

CASTINE, Maine - Maine Maritime Academy (MMA) is seeking nominations from the public for student awards recognizing outstanding service and leadership within the greater Castine community. According to Deidra Davis, dean of student services at MMA, the Eleventh Annual Alumni Participation and Leadership Awards Banquet, to be held on Monday, April 9, 2012, is designed to honor truly distinctive and exceptional students who have contributed to Maine Maritime Academy or the community at large.
CASTINE, Maine – Five members of Maine Maritime Academy’s fall sports teams were recognized for their successes in the classroom. Jeremy Bullard (Manhattan, Kan.) of the men’s cross country team, Kari Jones (Nobleboro, Maine) of the women’s soccer team, Jenna King (Old Town, Maine) and Kayley Rodriguez (Quincy, Ill.) of the volleyball team, and Benjamin Russell (Farmington, Maine) of the men’s soccer team, were named to the North Atlantic Conference All-Academic Team.
CASTINE - Maine Maritime Academy’s (MMA) Class of 2013 will sponsor their annual Polar Dip on Thurs., Feb. 23, at 4 p.m. The Polar Dip is a fundraiser to benefit the Class of 2013 and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Hearty members of Maine Maritime Academy's student body, staff, and faculty will plunge into the cold waters of the Bagaduce River to raise funds for both groups.
