The Academic Division of Maine Maritime Academy is comprised of 7 departments, which function as adminsitrative units for the organization of faculty, curriculum, and academic support services:

Professors at Maine Maritime focus on the chief task - teaching. In classrooms and labs and aboard ship, our full-time faculty of 55 men and women stresses the connections between theory and real-world applications.
The faculty is composed of individuals from diverse academic backgrounds, and from industrial positions in engineering, ship operations, marine science, maritime management, and small vessel design and operation.
Part-time personnel plus visiting professors from industry and from domestic and foreign universities augment them. In addition, faculty members serve as academic advisors and participate in research, consulting, and other academic pursuits.
