Can I pre-register for events?

We highly recommend you pre-register for the weekend by Wednesday, September 21, particularly for the Reception and Banquet on Friday night. We hope you can appreciate that we have limited seating and need to know the number of attendees prior to the event.

Can we register when we get there?

You may register when you arrive at the times and locations listed in the check-in information below. At that time, some of the events may already be full. Please see above links to pre-register if possible.

Where do I check-in?

Check-in times and locations are as follows:

What can I expect to receive at check-in?

Depending on the events you plan to attend, you will receive tickets to Friday night’s Alumni Reception and Banquet, Friday night’s entertainment (Comedian Jimmy Dunn), and Saturday afternoon’s waterfront barbecue. There will be an updated schedule of events, a campus map, town map, and other materials for you at check-in. If you have arranged to stay overnight on campus, you will receive keys to your overnight accommodations.

How much do the activities cost?


  • Friday night Alumni Reception and Banquet: $35
  • Friday night Entertainment – the very funny comedian Jimmy Dunn: $25 (includes reception). Tickets available at Registration.


  • Celebration Barbecue: $15 adults / $7.50 children 10 & under. Tickets are available at Registration and at the Barbecue. Cost is for barbecue only – come and enjoy cake, music and fireworks free of charge.

What meals are available at the Main Dining Hall during Homecoming weekend?


Saturday and Sunday breakfast is served from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. Students with a meal plan can use a meal swipe with their ID card. Students or guests without a meal plan can eat for $6.00 through the line. Guest passes can be used at any meal.


Friday and Saturday evening dinner is served from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Students with a meal plan can use a meal swipe with their ID card. Students or guests without a meal plan can eat for $12.00 through the line. Guest passes can be used at any meal.

Saturday Evening Waterfront Barbecue

You also have the option to join us for a barbecue at the waterfront from 4:00-6:00 p.m. with a live feed of the Men’s soccer game vs. New England College! The menu includes grilled burgers, hot dogs, chicken, side dishes and salads. Tickets for this meal are $15 (adults) or $7.50 (children 10 and under), payable at the door if you have not pre-purchased them.

After dinner, join us for festivities on the Waterfront to celebrate MMA’s 75th Birthday. Cost is for barbecue only. Come and enjoy cake, music and fireworks free of charge.

Can regimental students attend Homecoming events?

If your student is a first-year regimental student, you will be invited to the Regimental Induction Weekend events, October 7 – October 8, 2016. Due to regimental training, first-year students will have limited liberties during Homecoming weekend. Homecoming events are otherwise open to all students. Is tailgating allowed for Saturday’s football game?

MMA has developed Tailgating Guidelines for all home football games. One notable change from the initial schedule and years past is that Pleasant Street will not be available for tailgating. Tailgating is allowed on the MMA side of Court Street. Click here to review Tailgating Guidelines.

I heard MMA has a no-smoking policy?

That’s correct. Visit the Campus Safety website to learn more about the new policy.

Where can I park?

Parking is at a premium in Castine. There is limited parking around campus and available at Ft. George. Please observe the NO PARKING signs for public safety. We also offer these resources:

A shuttle bus service will be running throughout the day on Saturday between Bucksport-area motels, the Bucksport High School, and the MMA campus. Please see the schedule here. MMA will also provide a Castine taxi service between the upper campus and downtown Castine. There will be ample signage to advise you.

Is there designated Handicapped Parking?

There will be additional handicapped parking at the athletic facilities for Saturday’s football game. Access will be via Tarratine Street and through the Public Works parking area to the field. There will be signage and Campus Safety representatives to assist you.

Where do we find information about shuttles to and from the Bucksport area?

What is the Mariner Alumni Fun Run?

The Mariner Alumni Fun Run is a 5K to celebrate MMA’s Homecoming Weekend and 75th Anniversary! It is open to the MMA family and Castine community and is free of charge. Registration begins at 8 am with a race start time of 9 am at the Wyman House on Battle Avenue. Run/walk with friends, family, students and alumni through the village of Castine. What time is the annual Alumni Meeting?

The annual Alumni meeting will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 24. The meeting will be held in the 1954 Classroom, Alfond Student Center.

What time do we form up for March On?

Honor Classes muster at the garage door entrance to the Field House NO LATER THAN 1045. Honor classes are: 1946, 1951, 1956, 1961, 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006, and 2011.

Where is Morning Formation on Friday morning?

Morning formation is in the Field House. Doors will shut at 0720, so don’t be late!

Can I sign up for a Harbor tour or cruise on schooner Bowdoin?

Unfortunately, all cruises are full at this time.

Visit the MMA website for detailed info on Maine Maritime Academy Mobile, the official college app, and download it from the App Store or Google Play. The app includes a useful directory and calendar, and features event-specific information for special gatherings like Homecoming.
